Today, much of the existing Bahia Mar upland property is a great expanse of surface parking and a dated hotel complex. Bahia Mar Park will transform 16 acres set along Fort Lauderdale Beach and the Intracoastal Waterway into a family and luxury resort destination, as well as create a waterfront, mixed-use neighborhood/village complemented by expansive green space.
This elevated outdoor space will serve as the permanent home for the world-renowned Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show once a year and as a year-round gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
Construction of a 300-room Waldorf=Astoria™ is planned to replace the existing four-story hotel on-site.
The existing 15-story Bahia Mar Hotel tower will undergo a complete renovation, including all new interiors and become the "family" hotel at Bahia Mar.
Two residential condominum buildings will be built, offering a total of 180 private, residential apartments. These residential apartments will be transferred, rather than sold, subject to a 99-year land lease. These are not condominiums for sale since the city still owns the land.
Shops, restaurants, offices, yacht brokerages and more will line the lower levels of the residential buildings and create a “main street” atmosphere for residents and visitors to enjoy.
