Benefits

Enhancing Bahia Mar to its fullest potential will generate tremendous economic growth for the City as well as further the appeal of Fort Lauderdale as a destination of choice. Bahia Mar Park will create a permanent home for the Boat Show—which generates an estimated $600 million in revenue throughout the region—but equally important, the project as a whole will ensure permanent neighborhood vibrancy and appeal.

The Bahia Mar Park Master Plan is an integral project. Each of its components—i.e. the Park, Waldorf=Astoria™ Hotel, Waldorf=Astoria™ Residences, and retail and restaurant establishments—are dependent on one another in order for the project to be successful. Bahia Mar Park will serve as a neighborhood redevelopment, offering a sense of place with which people will identify as well as providing more shops with goods that surrounding area residents need and want, as opposed to only tourist-oriented shops.

The Neighborhood

Incorporating residential apartments into the Master Plan brings permanent residents to the neighborhood, thus introducing permanent activity which promotes a safe environment; new businesses that require a permanent base, such as dry cleaners, banks, specialty good stores, salons; and of course vibrancy—all elements from which the surrounding area will greatly benefit. Furthermore, residents of the residential apartments will give the neighborhood an “identity,” which is ultimately more attractive to visitors, rather than just tourist-oriented elements.
